About Mair
Hello there, I’m Mair – a communications consultant with significant experience of helping businesses of all sizes to communicate with impact and understand the effect of public policy on their operations.
I spent more than a decade at Kingfisher plc (the parent company of B&Q and Screwfix), primarily in Corporate Affairs roles and in the Chief People Officer’s office, spanning the HR, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability functions.
Before joining Kingfisher, I worked for the small but mighty public affairs team at the Association of Convenience Stores.
What I’ve found most rewarding in my career is empowering colleagues at all levels to find their voice in external meetings – from store apprentices meeting their local MP to briefing the CEO ahead of ministerial meetings.
Originally from south Wales, I continue to have a strong interest in Welsh affairs and I’m a native Welsh speaker. These days, I also consider myself a proud south-east Londoner.
I speak French fluently, having graduated with a Modern Languages degree from Oxford, with experience of living and working in France.
My interests and areas of expertise include: retail & the high street, skills & apprenticeships, business taxation policy, sustainability and the arts.
Outside of my consulting work, I’m also a humanist celebrant (my website is here), sitting on the Ceremonies Performance Board of Humanists UK, and I also sing with my local chamber choir.
I strongly believe in the importance of creating and maintaining an excellent external reputation for businesses and organisations of all sizes - I want to amplify your voice to demonstrate the positive impact of your work to your colleagues, customers and wider communities.
If you think I can help with your communications needs, please get in touch.
